Engineers predict

Engineers predict that advances in materials could be combined with new cooling and heat protection technologies to safeguard Spaceliner structures against the intense heat of hypersonic flight, explains Mark Prigg, leader of the study.

According to his calculations, Spaceliner would take about 8 minutes to climb into Earth's upper atmosphere before starting to move at a hypersonic speed of more than 23,000 kilometers per hour thanks to the fact that engines could accelerate to Mach20 in just 10 minutes.
